Young Entrepreneurs Academy
Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a groundbreaking and exciting afterschool program that transforms local middle and high school students into real, confident entrepreneurs. Through the year-long program, students in grades 7-12 generate business ideas, conduct market research, write business plans, pitch to a panel of investors, and launch their very own companies. From exciting local business guest lecturers to dynamic field trips to local companies, students learn how to develop and run a real enterprise in a fun, projects-based approach.
Toward the end of the YEA! Curriculum we host the YEA! Investor Panel, which is an exciting opportunity for our young entrepreneurs to take to the stage! Microphone in hand, the students have six minutes to present their business plan to a “shark-tank-like” panel of investors. The investors are local business leaders who will provide start-up capital to the various business concepts based on the quality of their pitch and presentation. Investors will also select the YEA! Saunders Semi-Finalist from the Northern Palm Beach County region; this business will move onto YEA!’s regional competition for a chance to compete in the final round of the Saunders Scholars Competition, hosted in Washington, D.C. at America’s Small Business Summit.
The YEA! program can be found in communities nationwide, and in 2015, our very own student, Kayla Abramowitz won the YEA! National Competition in Washington D.C. with her non-profit Kayla Cares 4 Kids.
The 2015-2016 YEA! class is underway!
