During the forthcoming holiday season, please remember to keep a watchful eye on your parking lots as we tend to see an increase in car burglaries and robberies during this time of year. If you see anything suspicious do not hesitate to call your local Police Department.

Art in the Gardens Returns to Midtown

 

 "Art in the Gardens" returns to Midtown, located on PGA Boulevard, Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23. "Art in the Gardens" gives Palm Beach County residents a sneak peek at some the art that will be showing at ArtiGras in February.  

Admission is free to the two-day event which will showcase over 75 regional artists, children's activities and the Youth Art Competition. Attendees will be treated not only to the fine art, but to local musical entertainment and food from the fine eating establishments in Midtown. Festival hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on both Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23. Premium parking will be available onsite for free.

To get to Midtown, take I-95 to PGA Blvd West. Cross over Military Trail, and Midtown will be on your right hand side. Art in the Gardens is presented by Midtown, and produced by the Chamber, in conjunction with the City of Palm Beach Gardens.

2008 Property Tax Notices

 

The 2008 property tax notice should arrive in mailboxes shortly.   Property taxes are collectable November 1 - March 31.  Taxpayers will have the ability to pay a reduced rate until February.  Discounts for early payments are allowed as follows:

  • 4% in November
  • 3% in December
  • 2% in January
  • 1% in February

Taxpayers are encouraged to take advantage of the discounts.  80% of taxes are paid during November and December, creating a flurry of activity in the Tax Collector's office. Read your tax notices and the supplemental content closely.  Information on important deadlines, various payment options and other details are included.

Please contact the Palm Beach County Tax Collector's office, at (561) 355-2266, if you have not received your property tax notice by November 15, 2008.  Our office is able to email or fax bills to those who have not received their notice.  Clients can also visit our web site at www.taxcollectorpbc.com and print a duplicate notice.

No discounts are allowed in March and taxes become delinquent on April 1st.  Payments may be made by mail, e-check, credit cards or in person.

In preparation for a multi-year phased expansion program, Jupiter Medical Center has leased the Florida Turbine Technologies building at 1701 Military Trail to house its 100-member Finance Division. The Parents' Association of St. Mark's Episcopal School in Palm Beach Gardens hosted its annual holiday trunk show, Christmas in October recently. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum introduces a new program for kids to get out there and explore! This special outdoor eco-history program for youths ages 8-12 provides the opportunity for boys & girls to learn about orienteering and map making, GPS and signaling, etc. The club meets one Saturday a month 10am-12pm on the following dates: Nov 15, Dec. 20, Jan. 24, Feb. 21, Mar. 14, Apr. 25, May 23 cost is $35 per child for the entire program due at registration. Columbia Hospital's Center for Breast Care is offering reduced digital mammogram screenings and Dexa bone density screenings during the months of October and November.  The digital mammogram screening is offered at $75.00, and the Dexa bone density screening is offered at $100.00.
